To Become a WIGMP Volunteer Mentor:

  1. Complete the NYC Department of Education Mentoring Program Application and finger printing process. 
  2. Attend 3-hours of training conducted by the Department of Education. 
  3. Agree to mentor the same students from 10th grade through 12th grade.  
  4. Agree that the mentee can visit the mentor’s work site twice a month after school for approximately two-hours.  The day and time are mutually established by the mentor and mentee.  
  5. Agree to participate in Mentor/Mentee group activities as planned during the academic school year annually. These activities usually occur on the weekends or after work hours. 
  6. Attend mentor coordinator meetings to discuss your mentee/mentor relationship, problem-solve mentoring issues and plan group activities.
